Ruling elders are chosen by the congregation to discern and measure its fidelity to the Word of God, and to strengthen and nurture its faith and life. Ruling elders, together with pastors, exercise leadership, government, spiritual discernment, and discipline, and have responsibilities for the life of a congregation as well as the whole church, including ecumenical relationships.
At FHPC, ruling elders serve three-year terms to make up our session, the governing body of the church. Our current ruling elders are:
- Class of 2020: Phylliss Moret and Carol Stephens
- Class of 2021: Kris Jones and Ed Spyhalski
- Class of 2022: Scott Mitchell and Gay Olsen
