People go through a lot of transitions in their 20’s and 30’s. Graduating from college, getting jobs, moving out on their own, getting married, starting families, etc. are all huge moments for people. During this time is can be a challenge to find new communities and make new friends. The young adult bible study at FHPC is an opportunity for people to bond, grow together, and discuss real issues facing them, both in their everyday life and in their faith journey. The Bible teaches that above all else people are called to love God and each other. Taking that commandment as a given, the group can proceed with open, honest, and respectful discussions about where in life there are opportunities to love, and where we, as groups and individuals, fall short of that commandment, and how we can improve to bring more of God’s kingdom to life here on earth.
Anyone who joins us for discussion is welcome to bring topics and questions to the table, and the group as a whole can decide when and how best to address each particular issue based on study of scripture, analysis of other text, or simple group discussion and sharing stories from our own lives that may speak into any individuals experience.
The group will not discriminate based on race, creed, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, height, weight, physical or mental ability, veteran status, military obligations, and marital status. We hope that you will join us in community to learn and grow together in discussions of our lives and faith.
Each meeting will start with an over-arching topic and some reflection questions, before a short period of quiet individual study, followed by group discussion.
