Forest Hill Presbyterian Church is offering
a “Blessing of the Animals” on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10:30
am in Phideaux Field (the doggie park in front of the church). “Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden where doing mothering was not boring—it was peace.”—Milan Kundera
Tours of the church stained glass windows, with Jayne Clement, docent, following the “Blessing”, from 11:00 am-12:00 pm. Enter the sanctuary and be surrounded by the jewel-like colors of the lovely stained glass windows. The largest window in the Chancel is named, “Come unto Me” and has the words “Come unto me and I will give you rest” spaced throughout
the window. Nine additional windows line two walls, including iconography of the
Call of the
Fishermen, Sermon on the mount, Parable of the Prodigal
Son, Healing of the Blind Man Pentecost and more. As you walk around, gaze at
each beautiful window and note the inspiring, minute details that grow increasingly more meaningful
for your inspiration.
